I Was Born Into Burnout

  • Set a bedtime and stick to it: Even on weekends. Your nervous system craves rhythm.

  • No screens 60 minutes before bed: Blue light signals your body it's still daytime.

  • Cool, dark room: Aim for 65–68°F. Your body needs to drop temperature to sleep deeply.

  • Magnesium-rich foods at dinner: Spinach, pumpkin seeds, and almonds promote a calm nervous system.

  • No caffeine after 12pm: It blocks sleep signals for 8–12 hours after you drink it.

  • Journal before bed: 5 minutes of "brain dump" clears mental clutter so your mind can rest.

The Misstep: Trying to "catch up" on sleep on weekends. Inconsistent sleep actually dysregulates your nervous system more. Consistency matters more than length.

  • Add electrolytes: Especially if you exercise or sweat. Sodium, potassium, and magnesium help your cells absorb water, not just drink it.

  • Sip throughout the day: Not all at once. Your body can only absorb about 20 oz per hour.

  • Stop water intake 2 hours before bed: So you're not waking up to urinate all night.

The Misstep: Drinking too much water at once thinking you're "hydrating." You're actually flushing electrolytes and stressing your kidneys. Consistency and electrolytes matter more than volume.

The Misstep: Being perfect. You don't need to eliminate everything. Start with removing one inflammatory item and adding one healing food. Progress over perfection.
